Voters in Pottawattamie County have given a thumbs-up to a $1.5 million bond issue for the construction of a new veterans facility.
According to the unoffical tally, 1,495 people voted in favor, 320 voted against.
The money is for the construction of a new 6,300 square foot building to replace the 1,600 square foot facility that’s too small for the job.
A 60 percent majority was needed for approval of the bond issue. It would add $3.62 to the tax bill on a $100,000 home over a five-year period.
