Volunteers spent Tuesday helpng the Open Door Mission prepare for coming expansion.
Assembling one bunk bed is a chore but imagine putting together eighty.
That task fell to the Open Door Mission on Tuesday. The beds will go into a nearly completed facility to house men. To help make things go faster the mission called on a group of volunteers that come once a month to help out.
The twenty or so men who came call theselves the "Friends of the Friendless". The mission sees their work as vital. They see it simply as a way to serve.
The Open Door Mission has been housing men in the old Lydia House. It is only 13,000 square feet while it's replacement will be 33,000.
