The sheriff’s report says a Lexus ES300 was driven by David L. Stewart, age 71, Lincoln. Stewart had been returning home from church around 9:30pm when he had a medical emergency causing him to lose consciousness. The vehicle then left the roadway and hit a tree head on. The driver remained unconscious until Tuesday morning when he was able to retrieve his phone and call for help.
The Cassgram reports the driver of the vehicle was transported by Alvo Rescue to Bryan LGH West in Lincoln for non-life threatening injuries. The vehicle sustained heavy front end damage.
It was determined Stewart was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor.
