Veterans To Be Honored

Cass County has several Veterans Day events planned to honor the more than 3,00 vets currently living in the county.

Louisville Public Schools will be hosting a Veterans Day Ceremony on Friday (11/9) in the high school gym. A breakfast will be held for all community veterans and senior citizens at 8:30am. The Veterans Day Ceremony that follows at 9:30 will be open to the public and will feature a keynote address from former Nebraska State Treasurer and veteran Shane Osborn.

A program in the Conestoga High School Gym will begin at 8:52am Friday (11/9) and run through 9:45am. The choir and band will perform musical pieces and the guest speaker will be Larry Biederman, Chaplain Colonel AUSA Retired.

The Conestoga Elementary School Veterans Day Program will be on Friday (11/9) at 2pm in the Elementary School Gym. All are welcome to attend.

A concert featuring Nebraska’s 43rd Army Band of the Nebraska National Guard will be Sunday (11/11) at 2pm at the Lofte Theatre in Manley. It is a tribute to veterans with a Veterans Day theme. The concert is free and open to the public.

Veterans Steak Fry at the Louisville Legion Hall from 5pm to 8pm on Sunday (11/11) – Please make your reservations by calling 234-6285.

The Veterans Day Dinner at Plattsmouth VFW Post #2543 is on Sunday (11/11). Social hour at 5:30, dinner at 6:30. State Senator Paul Lambert is the speaker. Please RSVP to 402-296-9905.

In the Weeping Water Public Schools, the program is Monday (11/12) at 10am in the auditorium. The speaker is Will Cover. All veterans and community members are welcome.

Plattsmouth High School’s Annual Veterans Day Celebration will be at 1:30pm Monday (11/12) in the school gymnasium. The USAF Heartland of America Band “Raptor” will be the featured entertainment. It is open to the public. You’re advised to arrive by 1:15 to get parked and seated. Please park in the north lot by the flag pole.

Elmwood-Murdock Public Schools will honor all local veterans at programs on Monday (11/12). The JR/SR High School program will begin at 10am in the new gym at the Murdock site. The Elementary School program will start at 1pm in the Elmwood gym. There will be performances by various student groups, such as vocal choirs, and concert bands.
