--- Tornado Watch, T-Storm Warning---
A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for northern Mills and southwestern Fremont counties in Iowa and Cass, eastern Sarpy and eastern Otoe counties in Nebraska until 3:45 p.m. Sunday. A tornado watch is in effect until 10 p.m. Sunday for southeast Nebraska and southwest Iowa, including Omaha, Council Bluffs and Lincoln.
Veteran Judge To Retire
Longtime Judge to retire. The Honorable Randall L. Rehmeier of Nebraska’s 2nd Judicial District has submitted his retirement notice effect March 31st, 2013. Rehmeier, who lives in Nebraska City, has been on the bench in the Cass and Otoe County District Courtrooms since 1990.
The Cassgram reports prior to the district court appointment, Rehmeier was a county judge and prior to that was Otoe County Attorney.
Cass, Otoe and Sarpy County make up the 2nd Judicial District. There are three other judges in the district: Judge Max Kelch, Judge William Zastera and Judge David Arterburn. Those three mainly work in Sarpy County.
The Nebraska Judicial Resources Commission will hold a public hearing on April 2nd on whether, based on the judicial workload statistics, a judicial vacancy exists in the office of district court of the 2nd Judicial District and make a recommendation to the Supreme Court as to the primary place of office of said vacancy.
The commission makes its determination based on weighted caseloads, adequate access to the courts by litigants, population, judicial duties, travel time and other factors necessary to assure efficiency and service of the court system.
