A group of vegetarians are teaching kids how to make healthier choices this Halloween.
The Nebraska Vegetarian Association held a Halloween party at the City Sprouts house at Seward and 40th Streets.
Rather than loading the kids up on normal candies, kids got to choose from vegan brownies, pigs in a blanket, bread sticks with marinara sauce made to look like bloody fingers, and mandarin oranges made to look like pumpkins.
Kids put on their costumes and chowed down on their treats.
"You really just don't have to worry about it. Everything here is pretty much vegan, so it's a load off for the parents and the kids can just enjoy whatever they see," said Matthew Thielker, of the Nebraska Vegetarian Association.
The association is holding another Halloween party Sunday in Lincoln.
