VP Nominee Ryan Says Iowans Key To Election

Republican vice presidential hopeful Paul Ryan made a campaign stop in Council Bluffs Sunday morning.

The Wisconsin congressman spoke to a crowd of about 1,200 during a rally outside the Bass Pro Shop near the Mid-America Center, saying this election could hinge on them.

“We have a big responsibility. A handful of states will determine not just who's going to be the next president for four more years, Iowa and a couple of other states may very well determine what kind of country it’s going to be and what kind of country we're going to have for at least a generation.”

Ryan said President Obama isn't offering a second-term agenda because the president doesn't have a record to run on. After the rally, Ryan headed to Sioux City for another campaign stop.

The Obama campaign later released a statement about the rally, saying, in part, "Middle class families won't be fooled by Romney and Ryan's newfound rhetoric in the campaign's final weeks. They know we can't afford to go back to the same policies that crashed our economy in the first place."
