The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking 150 volunteers to help Veterans who attend the Stand Down outreach event in Omaha Nov. 2., 2013.
The Stand Down provides a one-stop resource for homeless Veterans to access VA and other community resources at the Civic Center Exhibition Hall, 1804 Capitol Ave, Omaha.
The deadline to volunteer is Oct. 18.
To volunteer, call Desiree Kochen at 402-995-5174 or email Desiree.Kochen@va.gov and leave your name, contact number and the number of people in your group who wish to participate.
Volunteers are needed to assist with escorting Veterans to the myriad stations at the event. Stand Downs provide Veterans a variety of resources to include VA health care screening, haircuts, foot massages, assistance with benefits, free clothing and a hot meal.
Volunteers must be 15 years or older and are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and shoes, since there is a lot of walking involved.
