Sheriff's update on the train vs. car collision just after midnight Wednesday at Cedar Creek.
The Cassgram reports Cass County Sheriff Wm. C. Brueggemann advised the driver of the vehicle, 22-year-old James C. Deacon of Omaha, formerly of Louisville, abandoned the 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt just prior to the vehicle being struck by the Burlington Northern-Santa Fe train. There were no injuries.
The investigation indicated the vehicle was operational prior to the crash. Deacon was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, said Brueggemann.
The investigation is ongoing.
