A Council Bluffs man accused of killing his wife was in court Friday. Darwin Cox is charged with first-degree murder.
Police found the 44-year-old Millisa lying in the front yard of their home at 35th Street and Avenue B on October 15th with a gunshot wound to the back. A brief standoff with police followed. When officers were passing a phone through a window they noticed Cox was on the floor. They went inside and found him with a wound to his chin. Police say before attempting to shoot himself, Cox called several people and confessed to murdering his wife.
The couple's 18-year-old son told police Cox had a handgun and his parents had been arguing for several days and some of the fights were physical in nature.
Bond for the 55-year-old Cox was set at 10 percent of $500,000. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for November 4th.
