The family of Theresa Harazin has set up a memorial fund to help pay for her funeral and medical expenses. Harazin was badly burned after the RV she was riding in caught fire.
The fire quickly engulfed the vehicle on Highway 370 just outside of Shadow Lake Towne Center in Papillion on March 29th. Since the fire, the 48-year-old Harazin had been in critical condition with second and third-degree burns over most of her body. Hospital officials confirmed that she died over the weekend.
It is believed that the fire started in the engine compartment and quickly spread to the cabin. Harazin was driving and was trapped for a short time inside. Passing motorists stopped to help, some breaking windows to get her out.
"The two or three bystanders who stopped to help made all the difference in the world in getting the woman out of there," said Papillion Fire Chief Bill Bowes. "The one bystander I spoke to said she was stuck in the window with flames coming out around her before they were able to get her out."
The man and the couple's dog escaped with minor injuries.
