The month of May got off to a historic start in terms of weather. Record snowfall has blanketed the Midwest.
Omaha, Nebraska, Rochester, Minnesota, and Mason City, Iowa are just a handful of cities across the Heartland that got pummeled by unprecedented snowfall for May.
Parts of southeastern Minnesota got clobbered by 14 inches of snow. Meanwhile closer to home, Fort Calhoun was smothered by 4.4 inches of wet snow and Bennington walked away with 3.5 inches.
Elsewhere Eppley Airport officially received 3.1 inches of the white stuff from May 1- May 2 which makes this snow event the greatest May snowfall for Omaha since weather records were kept in 1884!
