Ever since Colorado decriminalized marijuana Nebraska officials have seen an increase in pot seizures.
On Friday evening Douglas County Deputies made the latest, disturbing bust.
The marijuana seized earlier today was on its way from Colorado to Wisconsin. Two men have been arrested. Their names have not been released.
They were transporting more potent marijuana in both the traditional form and mixed in with brownies and candy.
Lieutenant Eric Sellers shows off deputies latest victory. The marijuana will be weighed and booked into evidence but this bust is more disturbing than most.
Along with the bud there are also marijuana brownies, cough drops and a coco mix.
Lt. Eric Sellers says, "They were puzzled that it was illegal but as I explained, ignorance is no excuse. Just because it is legal there doesn't mean you can pass through our state and not be arrested for it."
As far as any war on drugs goes the take is modest but the form of some of marijuana is in is disturbing for Sellers and for several parents we spoke to about the bust.
Ryan Jamison says, "We try our hardest not to actually make things appeal to kids that are considered dangerous; drinks and stuff like that so when drugs are involved in that form it does concern me."
Ryan and a friend were entertaining their children at the slide at the Gene Leahy Mall along with several other families on Friday evening.
The general consensus was an adult knowingly using marijuana is one thing; kids ingesting it thinking it is candy or chocolate is completely different.
Molly McGee says, "I think that it's scary that it is in candy now so kids can find it or get it and not even know what they're doing."
Lieutenant Sellers says law enforcement agencies across Nebraska have seen an increase in marijuana being transported through the state.
