Midwest Farmers Cooperative donated a grain rescue tube used to assist emergency personnel in the rescue and retrieval of individuals engulfed by grain. This is the first rescue tube to be available in Cass County.
Since 1964 Nebraska has had at least 84 recorded grain entrapments. However, it’s understood that many incidents involving grain engulfment go unreported as private farms are exempt from OSHA regulation.
The Cassgram reports the rescue tube is available to all fire departments and emergency personnel throughout Cass County and nearby communities as a vital tool in the timeliness and effectiveness in emergency grain rescues.
Midwest Farmers Coop says it is honored to make this donation and will continue to work with its neighbors to bring safety to the forefront in the agricultural community.
