An Apache Junction, Arizona couple was injured in a driveway accident Friday afternoon in Omaha.
Police said 78-year-old Ivo Suing and his 73-year-old wife Jo Ann were about to leave from 112th and Harney just after 2 p.m. in a 2008 Chevy Suburban. They were unfamiliar with the vehicle and were attempting to start it. Ivo was standing outside the open driver’s door helping his wife. The parking brake was disengaged and the vehicle started to roll backward, knocking Ivo to the ground.
The SUV rolled out of the driveway and Jo Ann fell from the vehicle as it crossed Harney Street. It rolled into a driveway across the street and struck a parked SUV, then rolled into the side of a house.
Ivo and Jo Ann were taken to the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Jo Ann suffered a hip injury and facial abrasions. Ivo suffered facial abrasions.
