An Omaha man is ordered to trial for charges in the shooting of a six-year-old girl.
20-year-old Willie Strickland was bound over to district court Tuesday. He was arrested on weapons charges in relation to the shooting of Taelor Fentress.
Fentress was at a family friend's house at 41st and Ida when she was wounded by a stray bullet that went through a screen door and passed through her cheek and nose.
Strickland could face up to 50 years in prison for each of his two charges.
Police have made an arrest in the shooting of a 6-year-old Omaha girl during her birthday party last week.
Twenty-six-year-old Eddie Poe III was booked for being an accessory to a felony in connection with the shooting of Taelor Fentress at a family friend's house at 41st and Ida last Thursday. Douglas County Jail records indicate Poe remains in custody pending $7,500 bail. Poe was also wanted on a bench warrant for not appearing at a court hearing on misdemeanor drug and driver's licensing charges.
