The three jailed in Crawford County in connection with a grisly double homicide are set to appear separately according to the county attorney.
Michael Schenk, Jayden Chapman and Erika Haberberger-Dains are all currently behind bars booked for murder. Monday, WOWT 6 News learned a Crawford County Judge ruled to split up two of the three cases. “Right now we are planning for three separate trials against the suspects in the case,” Roger Sailer, the county attorney said.
The case stems back a month, when 80-year-old Marvin Huelsing and 81-year-old Alice Huisenga were found in a burning mobile home south of Deloit. It was believed the three suspects were scavenging for scrap metal when the incident happened.
Also new Monday, WOWT 6 News learned Chapman filed a not guilty plea in a written arraignment, last week Schenk did the same. Sailer said he plans to file a formal murder charge against Dains next week. As of the close of business Monday, two trial dates were scheduled, one for Chapman in June and one in October for Schenk.
