G.I. Jobs magazine has named the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) one of its top Military Friendly Schools for 2013.
UNO, for the fourth consecutive year, received the honor from the magazine and is among the top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools nationwide that embrace America’s veterans as students.
The honor recognizes UNO’s continued effort to support military and veteran students and their families. One major element of that effort began earlier this year with the opening of UNO’s first one-stop office for military and veteran students known as MaV USO (Military and Veteran University Services Office).
Military Friendly Schools actively recruit military students and implement military-friendly policies for continuing education.
At UNO, military focused offerings and programs include: student services at MaV USO and Offutt Air Force Base, online degree programs, a veteran student support group that works in collaboration with the Omaha Vet Center and Flexible deployment policy.
The current enrollment of military-affiliated students at UNO is more than 1,000 students.
