In a letter to fans posted on the league's website, UFL officials are not talking about shutting down operations. Instead, expansion and a move to the spring are being discussed.
In the letter, Commissioner Michael Huyghue mentions Jackson, MS as a possible expansion opportunity but other cities are being considered.
A move to the spring would not only avoid competing with the NFL and local college and high school schedules, it could possibly attract a buyout from the NFL.
The league has been talking about creating a developmental league for years and a buyout could erase the UFL's staggering debt problem.
