Avery Tyler has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of Delayno Wright. He was also given 20 to 30 years on a weapons charge. Tyler was convicted of the 2012 murder in June.
Wright was shot to death outside the Halo Bar near 175th and West Center Road.
According to police, Wright, his girlfriend, and cousin were leaving the bar when they crossed paths with two men. One of those men was Avery Tyler.
Wright's girlfriend accused Tyler of touching her inappropriately and an altercation broke out. Tyler went back to his car, pulled out a gun, and fired eight shots at Wright, killing him.
Tyler originally stood trial in January 2014 but the case ended in a mistrial linked to alleged juror misconduct.
The retrial ended in conviction.
