A driver was critically injured in an accident Saturday morning.
Shortly after the rain started to fall an SUV went out of control at 108th and Blondo and ended up taking out a transformer, street light and fire hydrant.
The driver managed to call 911 and was taken to the Nebraska Medical Center. He is expected to recover.
The driver involved in another crash on John J. Pershing Drive near 16th Street left the scene before police arrived. A pickup clipped a sewer drain which tore off the rear wheel. After that the truck took out a tree.
Minutes later a driver heading west on Pacific Street near Interstate 680 lost control and flew over an embankment. The car caught fire, but the driver managed to escape with only minor injuries.
