Two women were killed and two other people injured in a accident involving two cars and an SUV north of Omaha Wednesday morning.

The Washington County Sheriff's Department says the crash happened in a construction zone on Highway 133 near County Road 36 south of Blair at 9:10 a.m. A southbound Buick side-swiped a northbound Toyota, then struck another northbound vehicle, a Ford Explorer, head-on. The woman driving the Buick, 29-year-old Sara Jorgenson of Kennard, and a passenger in the Explorer, 74-year-old Joanne Roche of Kennard, were killed.

The driver of the Explorer, 74-year-old Ronald Roche of Kennard, was taken to the hospital via medical helicopter. The driver of the Toyota, 52-year-old Helen Langdon of Omaha, was taken to the hospital via ambulance. Their current conditions have not been released.

There are signs advising drivers to slow down due to the road work. The highway was closed for several hours to allow officials to investigate; so far, the cause of the crash has not been released.
