Two Dead In Fiery Crash On Highway 75

An early morning crash Sunday south of Murray, Nebraska left two drivers dead.

Cass County Sheriff William Brueggemann says the two-vehicle fatality happened on Highway 75 and Hobschiedt Road at 5:31 a.m.

A southbound 2003 Nissan Maxima driven by 21-year-old Efrain Soto of Omaha crossed the center line and collided head-on with a 2012 Chevrolet Avalanche driven by 43-year-old Dion Higgins of Nebraska City.

After the collision, Higgins' vehicle landed in the east ditch and caught on fire. Soto's vehicle came to a stop in the middle of the road. Both Higgins and Soto were pronounced dead at the scene.

Highway 75 was shut down for seven hours while Cass County deputies along with the CRASH Team reconstructed the accident, which is still under investigation.
