54-year old Plattsmouth sentenced twice in same day for felony convictions in two counties. In December, Rickey R. Rubek pled guilty to theft by taking in Cass County District Court.
The Cassgram reports Rubek had also pled guilty to two felony theft counts in Douglas County District Court.
On Tuesday morning, Rubek was sentenced to 20 months to 36 months on each conviction in Douglas County. The sentences will be served consecutively in the Nebraska Department of Corrections.
On Tuesday afternoon, Rubek was sentenced to 18 months to 24 months for the Class III Felony conviction in Cass County. The sentence was ordered to be served consecutively to the two Douglas County sentences in the state department of corrections.
Deputy Cass County Attorney Steve Sunde noted that one of the Douglas County theft incidents occurred on January 7th of this year, after his December guilty plea here in Cass County.
In the Cass County case, Rubek had leased a 10-foot U-Haul moving van in Plattsmouth on March 29th in 2012 but did not return the vehicle in the next two days as the agreement stipulated. A property owner observed Rubek with the vehicle on May 8th in Sarpy County as he was trying to steal fence posts but left the scene before authorities arrived.
The vehicle was recovered in Omaha a few days after that incident.
