Two Arrested in Murder Investigation

Authorities have arrested two men in connection with the death of Delbert Freemont Jr. whose body was found in a ravine just north of the Douglas County line on December 9.

Thirty-five-year-old John Moniz is accused of First Degree Murder in the case and 44-year-old Mark Walker has been booked as an Accessory to a Felony.

The case initially came to light when Washington County authorities were alerted to the body. The investigation was handled by the Washington County Sheriff’s Department and it was determined to be a homicide.

Freemont lived in Omaha and earlier this week, on Tuesday, December 17, the focus of the investigation shifted across county lines. A search warrant was served at 2210 N. 39th Avenue and authorities determined that Freemont had apparently been killed within the jurisdiction of the Omaha Police Department.

The OPD Homicide Unit picked up the case from there and three days later, Omaha Police announced the two arrests.

The circumstances of the homicide have not yet been released.
