Two Omaha residents have been arrested for allegedly stealing empty kegs from Old Chicago and turning them in for the deposit at the Gretna Wine and Spirits liquor store.
Omaha detectives were following up on an ongoing investigation at the Old Chicago near 132nd and Maple when they noticed one of the suspect vehicles approaching the Famous Dave's nearby. When officers approached the vehicle, they say, 46-year-old Tracy Maxwell tried to run, but was taken into custody nearby.
Another suspect, 43-year-old Gary Starks, allegedly took off but was arrested after crashing the vehicle near the HyVee at 132nd and Dodge. Starks was booked for burglary, attempted burglary, leaving the scene of an accident, and theft by receiving.
Maxwell was booked for burglary and attempted burglary. According to police, the two were involved in several burglaries at local Old Chicago locations were empty kegs were stolen.
