It was a class where students were encouraged to drop the books and pull out their smartphones. Roughly two dozen parents turned out for a "Twitter 101" class in Springfield's Platteview High School.
The Tuesday night class offered parents basic information on how they could find their kids on Twitter, and understand how their children are using it.
The class also covered why someone should tweet and who people should follow.
Participant Kathy Baker says it was a great opportunity to learn about a site her boys may soon want to start using.
"I don't have a Twitter account. I've never tweeted. So I was just hoping to learn myself, so if I choose to do it [...] I will have knowledge to do it," says Baker.
