September was the deadliest month of 2012 on Nebraska roadways.
Twenty-nine people were killed, according to statistics released by the Nebraska Department of Roads.
Those 29 deaths were the result of 22 crashes and 13 of those killed were not wearing a safety belt. Other data indicates 12 of those killed were 24 years old or younger, two were motorcyclists and three were pedestrians.
Twenty-one of the fatalities occurred on rural locations. Eight were on the interstate system.
So far in 2012, there have been 149 fatal crashes, taking the lives of 165 people. There were 20 fatal crashes in September 2011.
