Five people, including three children, suffered minor injuries in a crash when a Nebraska State Patrol trooper drove through a red light at an Omaha intersection Sunday morning.

Police say 43-year-old Trooper Jason Morris was heading north through South 24th and Martha streets, spotted a traffic violation, turned around and headed back south going through the light and hitting a car just before 1:30 a.m.

The driver, 21-year-old Blanca Encinas of Omaha, complained of aches and neck and leg pain. The front-seat passenger, 25-year-old Emilo Espinoza of Omaha, complained of leg pain. Two 3-year-old girls and a 7-month-old girl in the back seat suffered bumps and bruises. All were taken to Alegent Creighton University Medical Center, treated and released. Morris was not hurt.

Police are investigating to determine if the trooper had his lights and siren on.
