A transient was arrested Thursday for robbing a Lincoln bank.

Police say 47-year-old Julie Balero walked into the Bank of the West branch near South 16th and South streets just before 2 p.m. and demanded money.

She was wearing a purple jacket, jeans, a white hat and sunglasses and carrying a large bag. No weapon was shown. Police later found the jacket, bag and sunglasses in the bathroom of the Community Mental Health Center. There wasn’t any cash in the bag.

An off-duty police officer spotted Balero at Bryan LGH Medical Center West and called police. Balero was taken into custody around 3 p.m.
