Bikes welcome again on MoPac East Trail.
The Lower Platte South Natural Resources District has re-opened its trail to bicycles after wide cracks in the trail surface caused all three of the NRD’s trails to be closed to bikers for safety reasons. The re-opening applies only to the MoPac East Trail, from the 84th Street trailhead in Lincoln to Eagle, a stretch of about 11 miles.
The Cassgram reports the NRD has been filling cracks in the trail surface caused by drought, starting at the trailhead. Crews continue to progress toward Wabash, where the trail ends, removing signs indicating the trail is closed to bicycles as they go. Similar work on the NRD’s Oak Creek Trail and on the Homestead Trail will follow the work on MoPac East.
