The Saunders County Sheriff's Department says a tow truck ran off a rural road into an embankment a little before 6 p.m. Thursday. The department says 54-year-old Gary Bradley of Swedeburg, Nebraska was pronounced dead at the scene. It's unclear whether slippery conditions contributed to the accident.

The Nebraska State Patrol says a 39-year-old woman died earlier Thursday in a collision on Interstate 80 four miles west of Kearney.

The patrol says a pickup driven by Julie Weir of Young, Arizona crossed the median and ran into a semi. Weir died in the collision. The trucker and his passenger were not hurt. The patrol says weather was likely a factor in the accident.
