Toxic Algae Alerts End At Three Nebraska Lakes

Three Nebraska lakes have been given the all-clear for toxic blue-green algae.

The state on Friday ended the health alerts issued earlier this summer for Swan Creek Lake No. 5A in Saline County, Big Indian Creek Lake in Gage County and Kirkman's Cove in Richardson County.

The alerts stemmed from water tests that showed toxin levels beyond the state threshold.

No other alerts are in place.

Nebraska has been testing 49 public lakes since May. State health officials say the lakes will be monitored weekly through the end of fishing, swimming and boating season.
