Louisville, Nebraska has waited a long time for highway expansion in its area.
Louisville BUILD recently conducted a poll regarding Highway 66, asking for opinions on a straight-through town road or a bypass. The two options posed:
-Yes, I am in favor of extending Highway 66 along its current route and building a bridge over the creek.
-I am opposed to extending Highway 66 along its current route and building a bridge over the creek.
According to BUILD’s July meeting minutes, the majority voted for the option of going through town. Mayor Alan Mueller reminded everyone that this project has been ongoing since 1997 and with escalating costs the only alternative is to go with the through-town route. The project does not have a start date and is not listed on the recently-released state one and five-year highway plan.
BUILD conducted the poll to assist in recent efforts to involve state representatives and the roads department in making Louisville area projects a priority.
