Money to attract tourists.
The Nebraska Tourism Commission announced that 2014-2015 Tourism Marketing Grant applications are now available. The Commission has allocated $160,000 of its operating budget for tourism marketing grants in Nebraska. The focus of this grant program is to attract new visitors from outside a 100-mile radius. The application deadline is January 22, 2014.
There are three grant categories:
1) Promotion of an Event,
2) Promotion of a Region,
3) General Marketing.
Tourism Commission Chairman Jeff Boeka commented, “There is a great need in the state for assistance with marketing tourism events and attractions. Last year we offered $125,000 in grants but received requests for a total of $500,000. This year the commission voted to increase the amount available to be awarded to $160,000 to try to better meet the need that exists.”
The minimum grant amount that can be requested is $2,000 and the maximum is $15,000.
