A Lincoln toddler who suffered life-threatening injuries when she was hit by her mother's car is expected to survive.
Jim Schmersal says his 21-month-old granddaughter Aubree Cummins suffered a bruised lung, lacerated liver and skull fracture in Wednesday's accident, but will recover.
Schmersal says Aubree was hit and dragged down the driveway as her mother, Jami Marcano, rushed to a baseball game. He says Marcano put Aubree in the car and went back inside for a moment, during which time Aubree got out of the vehicle. When Marcano got back behind the wheel she didn't realize Aubree had gotten out of the car and struck her.
