The school year begins in less than a month for most Metro schools, and local clinics are filling up with students getting physical examinations.

Physical exams check for health issues that could cause problems for a student during the school year.

All student-athletes must get an athletic physical examination before they are allowed to participate in practice.

Students entering Kindergarten, the 7th grade or transferring to a Nebraska school from out of state must also get physicals.

Primary care doctors and urgent care clinics offer the exams. Some schools have partnerships with local hospitals to arrange for set times for students.
