Some mixed news on the economy. The outlook may be getting brighter for the unemployed, but one important industry is losing traction. Here's the Thursday Bloomberg After The Bell Report from the New York Stock Exchange.

Dish Network is reportedly in talks with several media outlets to offer channels online, a service that could change the economics of the pay-TV industry by breaking up the bundles that force customers to pay for stations they don't want. Among the channels Dish is apparently interested in are MTV, The Food Network and Spanish-language broadcaster Univision.

Stocks are snapping this week's slump, gaining on China's new stimulus plan and progress in deficit reduction in Spain.

Some earnings reports include good news for struggling Blackberry-maker Research In Motion. The company just released its earnings report, posting a narrower loss than expected. Helping to give RIM a boost are new orders in Asia and Africa.
