Thursday Morning Storm Threat

Another round of scattered showers and storms is expected to form during the pre-dawn hours on Thursday and track southeastward across the metro.

The morning commute could be impacted by rain and storms which could slow travel down. You might want to set your alarm a little earlier just in case the nuisance weather creates travel delays. There's a slight risk for severe storms, especially from the metro and points southward. The greatest threat for large hail and damaging wind producers is across Kansas.

The best chance for storms in the metro is between 5 a.m. and 1 p.m. and a slight chance after that, especially south of I-80. The storms during the afternoon hours could pack a bigger punch further south where the atmosphere is expected to have more time to destabilize.

Once this system clears the area on Thursday, much cooler and drier air filters in by the weekend.
