Omaha Police arrested three people Wednesday evening for spraying graffiti on 20 different buildings in South Omaha.
Businesses seemed to be the primary target of the vandals. A number of buildings near 20th and Vinton were hit during the tagging spree. But that was not the only part of town affected.
According to police the group actually started on foot near 36th and Harrison streets, tagging buildings as they walked, all the way to the area of 20th and Martha, nearly 5 miles away.
Police caught the suspects in the act at a vacant building under renovation at 20th and Castelar.
Police arrested 23-year-old Daniel Melendez, 18-year-old Victor Garcia and a 17-year-old male. All three were booked on charges of criminal mischief and graffiti.
The Taqueria El Bajio restaurant at 20th and Vinton was one of the buildings tagged.
"It's just not attractive at all to our customers," said Vanessa Vallecillo, who works at the restaurant.
This is the second time the business has been hit since they opened four weeks ago.
"Just as soon as we opened the restaurant, a week after, we had graffiti spray painted," said Vallecillo. "We had just gotten it cleaned up yesterday. And we didn't leave here until 9:15 and by ten o'clock it was spray painted again."
