Two Omaha men were arrested in Lincoln after police found a gun and drugs in their car during a traffic stop Friday morning.

Officers who pulled the vehicle over near 3rd and Knox streets around 2:30 a.m. could smell marijuana and saw two small bags of marijuana in the driver's side door. When they asked the four occupants to exit the car, the two back seat passengers ran away. Police were able to catch one, a 17-year-old girl.

During a search of the vehicle, police found a handgun with the serial number scratched off and a bag of crack cocaine under the passenger seat. They also found 17 individually wrapped bags of marijuana and a scale in the trunk.

Officers also found more than $2,000 in cash between the driver, 19-year-old Latjor Gony, and passenger, 23-year-old Aki Awou. Both are convicted felons and now face charges of possession of a defaced firearm, possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and possession of a firearm during a drug violation.

The girl was cited for possession of a defaced firearm and turned over to her mother. The other passenger is still being sought.
