The Internal Revenue Service says 12,000 people have come clean over assets they hid overseas.
They came forward in the second amnesty program the IRS has offered.
In the program, participants who come forward receive reduced penalties and skip jail time.
But they still have to pay back taxes. The latest program ended last week.
In all, 30,000 people have taken part in both tax disclosure programs.
