Channel 6 News has learned a teenager accused of stealing guns and pistol whipping a clerk will be tried as an adult.

Alex Provencher, 16, argued he should be tried as a juvenile for charges stemming from an armed robbery of a pawn shop -- Browns Loans -- in Council Bluffs last November.

Two others are also facing charges.

Ten guns were stolen in the robbery.

Provencher is due in court later this month.

A teenager accused of stealing guns and pistol whipping a clerk in the November robbery of a Council Bluffs pawn shop has been arrested in San Antonio, Texas.

Sixteen-year-old Alex Provencher is scheduled to to be in a Texas courtroom on Thursday. Iowa investigators have told Channel 6 News they plan to charge him as an adult.

The other two suspects, 18-year-old James Smith and 18-year-old DeQuan White, are already in custody.

White and Provencher are step-brothers, according to investigators. Detectives have linked the two to an Omaha gang.

Authorities say Provencher was the one who pistol-whipped and kicked a female clerk at Brown Loans at 7th and Broadway before escaping with 10 handguns. 3 have been recovered in Omaha.

Investigators say Provencher was arrested at a relative's home in San Antonio Wednesday morning.
