It was the only trailer in the yard that Nationwide Transportation used for equipment storage. It was also the only one that was hit by thieves who rolled thousands of dollars worth of tires and wheels off the lot.
"The total value was at least $31,000," said Ron Tilley who runs the shop for Nationwide. "We order extra tires when we find a good deal on them and would stockpile them to use them when we needed them."
The burglary certainly has the characteristics of an inside job and Nationwide is working with investigators by providing the names of former employess who might have had knowledge about the trailer that was burglariezed.
They have also changed their practices and increased security, "We're putting camera up on every telephone pole around the perimeter and we'll just have to keep the tires we buy stored at the tire shop until we need them," said Tilley.
