Omaha police were dispatched to investigate a burglary at the Amtrak station downtown late Sunday night. While officers spoke to the victim, a witness told police that he saw the suspect remove a handgun from his waistband and place it on the ground near the train.

The suspect allegedly stole a computer from the victim’s luggage.

Officers found the gun and questioned the suspect, who is identified as 39-year-old William T. McGlaughlen of Warsaw, Illinois. He was arrested booked for being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Police say McGlaughlen had three prior felony convictions in another state.
