A ring of thefts in Lancaster County last year became a Cass County case when a boom lift was recovered at 24909 Highway 34 in the Eagle area in February of 2012 — Investigation resulted in the arrest of Thomas Stefkovich of Lincoln. Authorities said the property owner had nothing to do with the theft.
The Cassgram reports the boom lift, taken from a Lincoln construction site, was damaged, said Deputy Cass County Attorney Richard Fedde. It had been valued at over $33,000 but then only sold for $13,000 with the damage.
Stefkovich was in Cass County District Court this week where he pled no contest and was adjudged guilty of a Class I Misdemeanor. The plea bargain in the case took into account that Stefkovich is to be sentenced on two Class III Felonies and three Class IV Felonies later this month in Lancaster County. The plea agreement in Cass County included no recommendation on sentencing.
