Organizers of an effort to restore a historic theater in Fairbury, Nebraska say they're making progress, though plenty of work remains.
Community members have raised about $125,000 through private donations and special events for the restoration of the Bonham Theatre.
The theater has been a part of the southeastern Nebraska community of 4,000 since 1926 but in recent years it became run-down and closed. Members of The Bonham Theatre Project Board plan to seek grants to match the money they have raised.
Volunteers already have removed theater seats and cleaned out debris. Now they want professionals to shore up the building and fix mortar joints along the brick facade.
A meeting is set for November 17th when board members will update their progress.
