Last week’s jackets are back in the closet and this week’s heat has put the steam back in the summer.
With Monday temperatures in the 90s and a Heat Index well past 100, it was time to look for relief.
Pools were popular. A little too popular is some places. They were crowded Monday afternoon.
In spite of the rush, Omaha Parks and Recreation says that after a couple of slower weeks earlier this summer they are on track for a typical year.
For swimmers like Melissa Croom, her husband and two kids, it was just about fun in the sun and the water.
Melissa said, “It has been pretty nice because it is too hot to be out playing in a playground but the pool seemed like the best place to go. We barely made it in but we are glad we did, because they would have been sad if we weren't going to be able to get in."
Here’s a note to keep in mind. It’s not enough to jump in the water in this kind of heat. You need to keep hydrated. Drink up.
