A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for Pawnee and Richardson counties in southeast Nebraska until 3 p.m. Thursday.
Tensions should ease at a Millard Middle School. A 13-year-old sex assault defendant has transferred out. The boy had attended class last week at Kiewit Middle School.
That's just a few blocks from a grade school where the victim started kindergarten. The 5-year-old girl had been threatened into perform oral sex on two 13-year-old boys. The victim's 7-year-old brother had been forced into participating in the incident at a northwest Omaha park in July.
The victims opted into the Millard district. In juvenile court Monday, the defendant's attorney told the judge the boy has moved schools. The 13-year-old wears an ankle monitor and has been court ordered to continue his education pending trial.
The defendant's brother had been enrolled in the same grade school as the victims but he too has transferred. Several parents from Kiewit and Cottonwood schools attended the hearing.
