Walnut Lake Neighborhood is a quiet neighborhood. Deputies believe "quiet" is what three teens were looking for when they tried breaking in to six homes Monday.

In the end, the suspects got away with only a small amount of cash and a few electronics.

"I'm home. I don't even have my (security) system on because it's during the day and you don't worry about that kind of thing," said Jean Meyers.

Meyers' home was one of six hit by the burglars. One of her basement windows is now covered with plywood after Meyers heard the teens breaking the window and trying to get inside.

"I ran over to the window but all I could see was from the knees down. I could see that it was a white male. He had very distinctive tennis shoes on with a green swoosh.”

Sheriff’s deputies were already in the area from prior burglary reports and so they were able to catch two of the teens at the Westport Apartments. Sheriff’s deputies say they may still be looking for a third suspect.

"In this case neighbors were watching out for each other and so in a case like this helped us a lot," said Lt. Eric Sellers with the Douglas County Sheriff.
